God Likes You Even if You Have a Hard Time Believing It

God Loves You, Redeemed, Accepted, ForgivenDo you ever feel like nobody likes you, everybody hates you, and maybe you should just eat a worm and die? Me too.

Some days we just aren’t feeling all that great about ourselves and life just gets us down. The insecurities in our minds, mistakes of our past, rejection from others, and hurt in our hearts cause us to listen to the lies of the enemy who tries his best to convince us we are not worthy in anyone eyes, much less God’s.

I bet you’ve had those days before. Days when the mistakes of our past make it hard to forgive ourselves, and possibly even cause us to struggle in the present as we have to live with the consequences of our choices.  Those days when the enemy of our soul knows our self esteem and our self worth are hanging in the balance with fragility, which are the days when he will work his hardest to keep us down and in a pit of discouragement and self pity.

But rather than letting those days set us in a pattern of living a life of self hatred, regret, pity, or hopelessness, what if we committed to listen to God’s promises of love, instead of the enemy’s lies of condemnation? What if we intentionally focused on what God’s Word says about us, instead of what the enemy – whose sole job is to steal, kill and destroy – whispers in our minds?

In today’s Proverbs 31 Encouragement for Today Devotion, titled She Got More Likes Than I Did, I shared about a day when my two daughters were wondering if they got enough ‘likes’ on a social media picture. As if their worthiness and self confidence hinged on how many peers hit the ‘like’ button on their photo. As adults, we may not worry about that type of ‘likes’ all that often, but secretly we do all want to be liked and loved and seen as valuable, by others and also by God.

Nothing breaks my heart more than to see one of God’s children – man or woman – who is so down on themselves that they can’t see themselves as a beautiful, treasured, beloved child of God.  In fact, seeing people I love feel that way is almost more than my heart can bear.

If you are reading this today and you’ve been feeling down on yourself, hopeless, unworthy or “less-than” for any reason, my deepest prayer is that God reaches deep into your spirit right this minute and fills you with such an overwhelming feeling of His love, acceptance and forgiveness, that it allows you to break free from the bondage of self hatred or low self esteem.

Life is too short to let ‘those days’ become the mantra of our life, and God is too good to let His grace and mercy change everyone else’s life except ours. (clicktotweet)

Yes yes yes!! This was exactly what I needed today. I’ve shared it with my mom as well. Thank you! I think as moms, we tend to feel not good enough all of the time. The verse in Ephesians is so comforting and eye opening! I am good enough!

Thank you Tracie, I often feel not good enough. I need to grow thicker skin according to my husband. I know I need to stop getting my feelings hurt by the comments or lack of comments from my husband. He is not a tender person. We have been married for 34 years, so its not like I didn’t know this about him for a long time. I have only begun my walk with Jesus a couple of years ago and am learning that the only opinion that really matters is Gods. It is still hard to not let bad treatment from others hurt, especially my families. But I am getting better, praying to God to help me handle things the way he would have me handle them. And then praying for my husband to see how his ways hurt me. I make sure even though its hard sometimes to make sure we don’t go to bed angry with each other. So thank you so much for reminding me just how much I am loved by Jesus, just look at what he did for us on the cross. If that isn’t love I don’t know what is.
