Hi: My 17 year old failed grade 11 and makes drama over everything. My mother lives 5 hours away. I cannot get to her. She was born deaf (I cannot just pick up a phone), has had Parkinson’s for 20 years or more now (so that now texting is almost impossible cause of the shaking), has gone toxic from urine problems at least 4 times in the past year (near death), had knee replacements, has hammer toes, has a dilapidated back and neck and can barely hold herself up without immmense pain daily, is really weheel chair invalid and now has Merkel skin cancer that is so aggressive we don’t know but the grace of God how she keeps going, and I just returned to work after a re medication and diagnosis with bipolar disorder – to a high stress job. I can do nothing about anything but keep going. I have a daily struggle myslef not to give into the negative and angry feelings about my mother’s situation along with my work and my daughter..oh I’m a single mom barely hanging on….cause I wanna give it all up but I cannot…Peace out

The biggest stressor right now for me are the attacks on me and my family from satan. Six months ago I found out my husband had an affair. 48. Dawn M. on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 1:44 pm

My biggest stress factor right now is finances and how it is affecting my marriage. My husband is bound and determined that he is going to find work in the mid-size town in which we live. The problem is that he has already been looking for a year and a half! While I have been blessed to find a better paying job, it is only temporary and then we will be forced back into the argument of whether we stay (his choice) or go where there is more work (my choice). Since I am the one that pays all the bills I carry this weight heavier than he does. I need to hand this over to God and realize that He has us in this place at this time for a reason and I need to be still and just know He is God.

My family is still recovering from a very stressfull 2011. Last year was filled with both mental and physical sickness for my two boys & my husband. I was working full time, trying to keep everyone healthy and parenting on my own. So much time and energy was spent trying to keep the family together. Now that everyone is doing better, I am falling apart. My weight has ballooned and my emotions are all over the place. (Which is causing more stress for this normally competent girl.)

Our middle daughter(23) that we thought would always be around(she was the quite home body)Moved out 1& 1/2 years ago, to be independent, and that wasn’t so bad, but a little at a time she started cutting us out. And now she desisded to move and wont tell anyone were she is moving, this is not like her. Only after she moved out. Now we here from her older sister that she has a health problem, but she doesn’t want to tell us, because she said we would yell at her. This is not true none of it is. I would want to be there for her, but now there’s nothing, we don’t even know were she is.Our youngest(almost 19) just went off to her first year of college. And me, I had 2 part time jobs, but was not asked back to 1 after the end of the school year a year and half ago. So I am still looking. My husband and I just trying to understand what happened with our girls.

I my stressors right now are, our oldest daughter(25) that pretty much cut us out of her live and married almost 2 years ago.

Okay, so I really didn’t think I needed a stress detox. But after taking my 2 elementary school daughters to school this morning (and being crabby), coming back home to work as a medical transcriptionist, and planning my lesson for tomorrow as a preschool teacher, I already feel stressed. Add in a husband and house, and I already feel overwhelmed. And preschool just started yesterday!

My bigest stressor is that my husband is disabled and he has stage 4 cancer. I have a full time job and trying to take care of him. I let him and all the things that I have to do at home get me so stressed out that here lately I don’t seem to have enought time to spend with the Lord in prayer or His word. I want the Lord to help me get past all of this stress. But to be honest at this point I’m really not sure how to begain.

The biggest stressor in my life right now is my health. I turned 40 late last year and I was so excited to see what God had in stored for me and how he would use me. It was like a new chapter that I was going to start and I was so excited! I was going to read the Bible more, be more involved with my church and just live a full life that God intended for me to live. But everything fell apart beginning of this year when I got sick with a simple flu that in turn led to vertigo, the world was spinning around for 2 weeks! Then I started to worry, panic, felt anxious, and mildly depressed. I was extremely fatigued all the time. There were many visits to the doctors but symptoms continued. As a mom of 2 children and as a wife, I felt extremely bad for my family, that I couldn’t be there 100% for them Then I realized I had to focus on God and seek His help more than anything. It was a battle but finally after 8 months of suffering, I am feeling better and I know that God is healing me. Then I discovered this 10 Day Stress Detox program and I’m looking forward to learn and see how God will personally speak to me. Thank you for the encouragements and sorry for the long post.

Being a type “A” personality and being able to fix most things, it is very stressful to watch both parents and both in-laws succumb to dementia. It is heartbreaking to watch four very active individuals loose all memories and physical abilities. On top of this I am currently recovering from foot surgery and am having to rely on others to assist me with evn small tasks. Very humbling for someone who normally takes care of everyone.

The stress in my life centers around physical pain, relentless neck and spinal pain. I have had several serious extensive surgeries that have left me with spinal cord and nerve damage. There is not one minute that I am not suffering with distracting pain for the past 2 years..
We have a granddaughter who has a serious life altering genetic disease. I help my daughter with daily treatments to keep her healthy.
It is difficult to write these stresses because I am not complaining to God about them. He has blessed me in so many ways and I am thankful.

I have an almost 4 year old son with Apraxia– neurological speech disorder — brain does not tell the mouth how to make sounds. I am sending him to part time preschool and am struggling with this. If something happens to him, he won’t be able to tell me. This is a very stressful thing for me because I want to protect him from the world but I know he needs to be a part of the world.

My husband travels all over for work and we go with him. We never know day to day when we will leave for the next job. He usually is told at the end of the day that he needs to leave in the morning for the next job.We had 1 day notice to leave Oregon for Maryland. We move from state to state. My biggest stressor right now is knowing what to let go of and what is important–at work, at home, kids sports, etc. God is really pressing in to me the need to be more “Mary” and less “Martha”. Distinguishing what tasks/issues are okay to let go is where I am struggling. The mental battles that go on in my head create stress that trickles down to my husband and kids.

One would think that my biggest stressor would be my job, project deadlines, managing 29 Physicians and 19 sites as the only Technical Analyst. What really stresses me out is going home and not having a complete hold on our home, day to day duties. I get so overwhelmed before even walking in the door at 5-5:30 pm. Immediately changing out of work clothes, start dinner, feeding the family, do what laundry I can, dishes, cleaning and then off to bed by 8 pm. I seem to do much better handling the 29 Physicians and 19 sites than my own home.

Tracie–thank you so much for doing this 10 Day Stress Detox—it could of not come at a better time for me—my husband is going through a lot of health issues at this time–he went in for a hernia, and found out that he has prostate cancer, a 5cm AAA, and a 100% blockage of an artery. He is one who has never ever been sick in life—so for all this to happen within a few days of each other has taken a toll on the both of us. My situation is probably different than others. I have had ALS for 6 years. My husband takes care of me before he goes to work and after he comes home. At first he had patience with me and slowly that has lessened. I certainly understand. Before I got this, we had problems in our marriage, therefore, it is difficult to find a place where you’ve never been. I know we love each other very much. I have been critical of him in the past and I find I am still having those same thoughts. I pray every day that God will keep my mind pure keep satan from giving me those thoughts. The biggest challenge is my husband’s drinking. I pray every day for him. I know God will answer my prayers but I must be obedient. God has blessed me immensely. Thank you Tracie. I always enjoy your posts and blogs.

Thank you for being a softie! I was drawn to this question. My biggest? Isn’t it that I have too many? I listed them, and saw a questionable one as the biggest, so I am praying for discernment: is it something that isn’t even my job?

Keeping husband, daughter, father, and myself happy.

Thank you for posting, for bringing up what is possibly a lie I am believing. I’ll be seeking God’s will on this today.

My biggest stressor is my husband. He has a drinking problem and has every excuse under the sun on why he drinks. this causes a domino affect. I stress about his health and drinking and it goes to stressing that I have to take care of everything from the house to a job to finances, etc., etc., etc., the list goes on and on. I definitely need this book in my life right now. I need to take care of me. I can feel my health going downhill and when that does, who will take care of me!!!

My life is in shambles. Husband wants a divorce and wants me out of the house. He wants the kids and not pay for any support. I have refused to move out and to grant the divorce. I am in love with him and want to stay married. This has been going on for 11 months. I really need God to keep giving me strength to look to him for guidence and hope. I need to have faith in Him. My faith and hope kind of weans from time to time. I need Him to help me have unconditional love for my husband.

The biggest stressor in my life right now is my ongoing health struggle and the limitations it forces on me. (I’ve never been good at being told I “can’t” do something.) It’s also stressful in that my health issues aren’t often “visible” or something that is easily understood by many people, so there is a perception by some that I just need to “get over it.” Sometimes I handle it pretty well and accept it for what it is, but lately it has been more of a “not so well” phase. (And I feel guilty for feeling the way I do about it because I know what I am struggling with could be SO much worse…so why am I not more grateful?)

    Rosalba.
First of all thank you for writting a book about living stressed-less. One of my friends told me, time ago, that as a woman we stress out more than man because our brain is different than theirs. Now I realized that all woman and man stress out when we are not connected with God.
My stress factor is the finances, my language barrier or my accent that is very strong and people cannot understand me, especially when I want to share the gospel with somebody . Today through your post on 1st day detox I realize that my main problem is that I am disconnected With God. I do want to take the challenge and live it to God, I just want to pray to come back to God.Thank you.

I struggle each day to balance God, family, and career. I only accepted Christ into my heart six months ago and was baptized a few weeks ago. I made the decision to stay at home with my children, but finances have me trying to incorporate work through a direct sales company and doing “office” work from home for another individual. Trying to find time to spend with God, while trying to get kids out the door, keep a house functioning, run my business, and keep food on the table has me spinning in circles most days. And honestly, the overhelm has caused me to shut down many times and then absolutely nothing is accomplished.

My biggest stressor is my mother inlaw. I have tried my best for years to be a good daughter to her. We have opened up our door to her when she had no place to stay and supported her when she had no income and still she tells my husband and his children who I have raised since they were 6 months old and are now 11 years old that me and my two children are not their family. It creates such a hardship when we are trying to raise the children together.(they all live with us). My husband has recently lost his job and her response to him was why doesn’t he take his kids and disappear with her. My first reaction was to go right over to her house and confront with my hurt, what have I ever done to her. It is truly exhausting and my husband is torn between loving me and feeling like he has to choose when it comes to his mother not to mention the children don’t get to spend time with her because he doesn’t want them around her negativity. I ask God to help me sort my feelings and help me to recognize why I feel the hurt that I do. I thank him for the strength and resource he has sent me for the next 10 day. Detox here I come in Jesus name. Amen. Tina rockland/ NY

My biggest stress is my children’s character and behavior, not really knowing how to guide them, though we do read bible stories and stories related to Christian values. Sometimes my younger one will just scream and cry although I thought I have not tolerated this kind of behavior before, it might have crept in during my most tired and stressful times.

In 1980, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Though I have always loved God, it was my desire to ‘earn’ love from my alcoholic earthly father at any cost that lay the foundation for my pathological, fallacious obsession with the perfect marriage. Though I had been a believer for all of my life and a professing Christian since the age of 16, my lifetime of struggle to be accepted and loved blew up in my face with the discovery of my husband’s second life in 2007. It was then that my obsession with ‘performance = love’ turned to workaholism, and in March of this year, God reached into my soul and changed my life forever.

Jesus intervened, blew the door off the hinges, and rescued me from a life of pain.

Today, Jesus is providing for my every need, and I am trusting Him to carry me through this season of transition.

Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world.

Thank you, Tracie, for sharing your insights. I am looking forward to reading your book and learning more about ‘Stressed-Less Living’!

A lot of my stress is self-inflicted; I tend to desire to control and plan things out in a very set fashion, and, naturally, I am often the only one who gets the memo about the way I think things should be. Thankfully, God has been teaching me to let go sometimes and just watch Him work. A stresser I cannot control is the amount of time my husband must often spend working a second job; during those times, I feel as though I lack help I need to care for the spiritual and emotional needs of our three very young children because he is not home while they are awake.

My biggest stressor is clutter, disorganization. I am so over whelmed by this I don’t know where to start just the thought of tackling it discourages me.

My biggest stressor is dealing with my mom being at the end of her life and being over 1000 miles away and leaving my family every few days to spend a few days with her and my dad. I blessed to be able to do it, but it stressful.

My biggest stressor right now is my health. For the last 2 years have been dealing with hip pain. At this point am basically bed ridden. Because of the so far undiagnosed problem (finally found a doc that has an idea but haven’t been able to get appointment scheduled with person to confirm), can’t work so lack of $ coming in to pay bills adds to the stress of the pain & everything else I can’t do for myself & my family.

I think I would say finances are my biggest stress these days (although other things often add to the stress each day). My husband and I have made a decision to allow (and encourage) our children to attend a Christian College. Although this education is costly, we feel that it is worth the extra $$ to have good principles and character instilled in our children. With one child already in college (and on the “5 year” plan), I worry about how we will afford this same opportunity to our youngest child. Although we make a steady income and live a comfortable moderate life, the rising cost of everything has set us back a bit in the savings area.

The biggest stressor for me right now is the unhappiness of others in my household. I just want to fix everything as a mom and wife, but some things are simply out of my control.

My top stressors right now involve my health and my kids. I just finished up a very hard, 2 yr battle with an aggressive breast cancer and in April was told I was cancer free, ALL praise to Jesus! However, my husband and kids have suffered through all my treatments, pain, illness and the basic worry that I might die. My family was brave and did their best to survive with me out of comission for such a long time, but it has taken it’s toll on them and on me, physically of course and mentally.
In addition, my daughter who is 13.5 yrs was diagnosed with a depressive disorder. She was hospitalized for a week and has had to go through inpatient and outpatient therapy. She was suicidal this summer. My heart is broken. I worry over her soooo much. Praise Jesus again for a good friend who called the police who came to the house and everything came to a head. I know Jesus has her and saved her, but it is sooo hard for me to not worry and hover daily. Sigh. I just need His peace to get through all this.

I have two young children (8 and 5). My husband revealed 3 years ago he had acted out with porn for 2 years without me knowing and lost his job because he expenses the porn at work. Tried to work on marriage…he kept getting more angry…1 year later he revealed he was lying to me and counselors and community group and he had an affair several months later….I still desire reconciliation and keep trying….6 weeks later I’m diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. Husband is trying to start business in other city while I fight cancer. Me and kids supposed to move to that city. 5 months ago husband walks out. Lives in another city, visits kids once every three weeks, files for divorce and is not looking back.

My biggest stressor right now is having to move my son 9 hours away to go to college.

The biggest stressor right now is being a working mom/wife and trying to keep up with the house, healthy meals, activities while still getting enough sleep and not engaging in the attitudes. Obviously I’m not doing so well with some of the above as I am stressed about it all!
