It’s Time For Christians To Stand Their Ground – Who’s With Me?

Every day in the news (and admittedly, I’m kind of a news junkie) it has become painfully obvious that Christians are now the “away team”.  I talked about this football analogy in today’s devotion running over at Proverbs 31. It’s a devotion that has been on my heart all year long, as a result of the growing moral decay in our country, and continually seeing the separation of church and state and basic Christian liberties getting trampled on. Not only in the media, but by the media.

As I type this blog post, I feel a lump in my throat because although I’m a tad nervous, I am so passionate about what I feel God has called me to do – which is to start standing up for what’s right in His eyes, and start speaking out for Him in a world – and in our mainstream media –  which is trying to take Him out of everything.

I’ve always blogged about the goodness of God, but I believe He is calling me to step up my game. In fact, He’s calling all Christians to step up their game for such a time as this period we are living in. And my prayer is that you will choose to join me in this fight for Truth and stay connected and engaged here on my blog.

I confess, I’ve always been hesitant to blog about current events, politics or controversial subjects …  because … what if someone disagrees with my view? What if hurtful comments are posted? What if people are rude or mean? What if people unsubscribe from my blog? What if someone doesn’t like me anymore?

But you know what? Over time, and especially over this past year, my desire to please God and speak out for Him has become stronger than my fear of other people’s approval. Sometimes we just have to push ourselves out of our comfort zone, stand up for what we believe in, and not worry about ruffling feathers. In fact, I think it’s high time Christians start using their voices, speaking out and ruffling some feathers, because the voices of non-believers are getting louder and louder.

I realize you and I may not always agree and our views may differ on certain subjects from time to time, and that’s okay. As Christians, we can still respect each other and remember the only thing that really matters is that we are on the same team. Team Jesus.

So, with all that said, I’m excited to announce I’ll be starting a new series on my blog called Media Mondays, where I’ll be writing posts about current events from a biblically based, Christian faith perspective. The subject on any given Monday may be something controversial or it may not be.  It may be a hot topic in the news, or it may be a story you haven’t ever heard about. It may be about politics or laws, or it may just be about an inspirational article I came across. It may be something that makes you laugh, or it may be something that breaks your heart. I may not post a Media Monday video or blog post on every Monday, but media related posts will always be on a Monday.

I’m ready to start standing my ground and stop letting our culture slowly yet deliberately squelch the voices and rights of Christians. Are you with me?

To hear my heart for this new series, please watch the brief video below. And if you’re not yet one of my blog subscribers, I’d love for you to connect with me by subscribing, or visit my blog each week, and share your thoughts, opinions and insights on the topics of the week. Tracie, God is doing something here! It seems I’ve heard more sermons and personal comments in the last few months in this vein than I ever have. The vein of putting aside fear of others’ opinions and standing up for our faith. I’ve let my own fears keep me from writing until recently. I’ve started a blog and the people the Lord sends to it seem to be hungry to see authenticity in believers…people willing to put themselves out there for God and trusting HIM to deal with the back lash. Keep focused on what He’s called you to do. I will be praying for you and reading along. My son is currently serving our country in Iraq. Funny how when you have a personal stake in political matters our ears perk up. God bless!

Thank You for doing this. We need this we need the truth and not the “news” from the mainstream media, but from the Christian view point . A lot of news is ignored if it has to do with truths and one political party over the other being “praised” as doing good for the country even though it is destroying the country. If it is in the Bible it is true not what the supreme court not what the main stream media says let us all stand up for God’s truths today and everyday. Praise God and thank you!

Tracie, there comes a time in a Christians life where we DO have to stand against the world. The time has come for us all. It isnt easy, we wont be liked by everyone, but we cant lower our standards now! You have my support and prayers.

  4. Teresa on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 8:43 am

Thanks for being bold enough to take a stand, Tracie. I’m on board!

  5. Nancy on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 8:47 am

Thank you for your courage, Tracie! We are truly in an age when Christians are being silenced. Seems like everyone has freedom of speech except for Christians. However, we are called to love, and to speak the truth in love, and we are often hurt from within by brothers and sisters who condemn both the sin and the sinners. I am happy to be a part of a group of Christian women who will encourage each other to stand up for God and who will tell others of God’s love for all His children. I will be praying for your new ministry.

Tracie, you have my full support and my prayers! It’s past time for Christians to speak up and speak out concerning the media and current events. God has not given us a spirit of fear so we should speak up boldly on HIS behalf. It is true that Christians are now considered the ‘enemy’ in today’s society, but we must let our voices be heard. I can’t wait to see how God will move through this platform. I’m excited! Be blessed and be encouraged!

  7. Kathy on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 8:56 am

Tracie, Amen! Go Team Jesus! It’s past time to ruffle a few feathers! You definitely have my support and my prayers as you embark on this venture. God bless!

God calls us to not have weak hearts, but to stand with courage and speak His truth boldly! He has filled you with righteous conviction. May He bless you with strength that never fails, as you answer His call to address issues in His name. Blessings!

Thank you Tracie for opening your blog to us. I’m finding that in my community either Christians are afraid to speak up or non-Christians are so loud we’re being drowned out. Christians who aren’t afraid to speak out are labeled as judgemental and unloving. And, this is the way we are being portrayed in the media. I’ve found myself becoming frustrated and I’ve prayed for a boldness to speak up when we are being trampled. Praying for a huge following for your blog. We need to learn how to be heard in a constructive and loving way.

Tracie, I too am compelled to start taking a stand for God and support you. This past year it has been become clearer to me that this life that we live is not our destiny and what we do now effects our eternity. There are loving ways to share the Truth of what God says about topics like homosexuality, idolizing of movie stars, athletes etc. , entitlement (taking and not giving) just to name a few…

If the liberal’s can have a voice then so can us conservatives. Which begs the question when Christians take a stand why are we are considered judgmental and closed minded?

I’m excited about this Media Monday’s series! I live in the Bible Belt (Oklahoma) and even here, our voices are getting drowned out by the world. Thank you for the encouragement to stand up and speak out…I haven’t done this in the past out of the same fears you listed in this post, but I’m ready to change that!

  14. Nicole on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 10:08 am

I stand with you and anyone else willing to take a stand for rightousness!!! As One!!!
    We have the victory!
Now is the time to let our voices be heard.
All glory to our heavenly Father.

  15. Marsha on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 10:11 am

Yes ma’am!! My feeling exactly. May God bless you for your standing up and out for Him. I pray for the courage to do that in my own little sphere.

  16. Lili on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 10:16 am

Hallelujah ???????? Thank you! God is using you to support and encourage others.
Go Team Jesus !!! Yay!!! We won’t ever be defeated.

  17. Betty on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 11:11 am

Traci, I stand with you. I’m proud of you for standing up for Jesus!!

  18. Lori A. on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 11:11 am

    Tracie,

    So proud!

  19. Martha on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 11:15 am

Yes Tracie, do it!!!! I’m all for it, we may not always agree, we are all so different, and that is good. God intentionally made us all different but together we are all one body, the body of Christ and that’s what is important. I can’t wait to read and be inspired by your messages and maybe even give me the empowerment to stand up and voice what is right based on God’s values and commandments. You will be led by God’s grace and greater things will come.

  20. Bev on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 11:15 am

I didn’t receive the conformation that you got my email but I do want to follow you in what you are doing and stand up for what we believe and have the knowledge to help others.
    Thanks
    Bev

  21. Joan on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 11:56 am

Tracie, I couldn’t agree with you more! I, too, am somewhat of a news junkie and am alarmed at the rate that which our freedoms are being taken.

I often hear Christians say that “we shouldn’t be involved in ‘politics’, but just go about the matters of the Kingdom”. My response is: “what if ‘politics’ pertain to moral values that affect our families?” We have what we have today partly because many good people chose not to get involved. Jesus said to be salt and light to the world and He also said to “be alert” and watch. I’m thankful that there are still some good news outlets that proclaim truth and educate us about “our times”.

I also feel strongly that our words must always be backed up with actions reflecting our love, compassion and respect toward those with whom we disagree.

  22. Barbara Prince on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 12:18 pm

Dear Tracie, I so much support your diving into this subject. Yes, it is desperately needed. It pains me when I see the Church and Christian cower under the norms of a pagan society. Yes, pagan, because we worship everything that isn’t God. I tackle this subject at times, but not nearly as often as I should. You inspire me, sister!

Blessings and prayers that God will enlarge your circle of influence.

  23. June on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 1:31 pm

Thank you so much for doing this! I too am a news junkie, but have recently been trying to stay away from it. Every time I read something or see something on the news, I feel defeated as a Christian. I look around me and can’t believe how blind everyone is. I hear comments at work and feel the same thing. How can everybody be so blind to what is going on? A Christian revival is coming. Ask people. We all feel something is happening. Most people just can’t put their finger on it. Thank you for doing this.

  24. Tracy on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 2:13 pm

Tracie, I am right there with you! My Facebook page has become my stand for Christ and for our Country as God has been teaching me about Godly anger. I use to just be angry. Lol I lift you up in prayer and I walk with you Sister for Christ.

    Hi Tracie,

Thank you so much for stepping up to the plate and stepping out of your comfort zone in order to serve Jesus and help all of us to do the same. We can conquer if we stand as one. I’m onboard and happy to be with you all.

  29. Jackie on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 10:49 pm

    I like it!!

  30. Beth Almeida on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 11:12 pm

I have been saying that Christians are taking the concept of being peaceful waaay too far. Jesus was bold and loving but He didn’t sit meekly and quietly by while people behaved the way so many in society are behaving now. I am more than willing to stand with you. I have been contemplating getting my blog back up and running and this post gave me just the push I needed.
I think a really good place to start would be The Crawford Stand. They are on FB and have a site but I don’t have the site addy right here.

  31. Shaun on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 9:51 am

oh my goodness…exactly my heart. The words you wrote have been echoing in my heart and mind for months now…it sure has been a lonely season. It’s time Tracie- we were born for such a time as this…I’m in!

  32. Kathy Martin on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 4:57 pm

Standing up for Christ with you! I’ve felt the same nudge from God. About to publish my first book about Christ for children and finally amping up my blog. Thanks for the encouragement to stay the course.

  33. Kim on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 10:59 am

I completely agree!!! I totally support you and will pray for this new series that an impact will be made.

  34. Sherry V. Curlin on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 11:50 am

Tracie, I am looking forward to the things you are going to cover and hope you are encouraged by all of the positive responses you have received so far. GOD is on your side and so are we. God bless. Sherry

Tracie, I just wanted to say that after reading your book “Your Life Still Counts”, I was inspired to go forward and start my own blog. It’s a lot of work by the way:) One of my first posts is about my concerns(or rants) that Glamour magazine has named Caitlyn Jenner as their 2015 Woman of the Year! I, like you, felt that this was a slippery slope to address given the climate today, but I just couldn’t get it off my heart & mind. Hence, “Should the 2015 Woman of the Year Sport a Beard?” was born. I applaud you on taking this stand, and will look forward to your upcoming posts. Another resource that fights against media pollution is OneMillionMoms.com. Check them out.

This topic has been on my heart for some time now. Thanks for addressing it!

  37. Misty on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 8:18 pm

I’m on board and support you 100%. Thank you for taking this stand. I agree with you completely, and I also think it’s time to call the media out on their skewed view of Christians today. I believe with all my heart that Christians are not fading away, and we are NOT the minority. I DO believe the media and Hollywood would like us to believe that is so. I’ve read too many statistics that back up the argument that Christianity is not waning. The media and the enemy would like for us to believe that lie. Let’s stand together and claim the victory that is already won over our country, politics, leadership, values, morals and the truthful communication of each.

Thank you Tracie! May you be blessed and anointed in this calling!

  38. Chelsey T on Friday, November 27, 2015 at 5:03 pm

I am so incredibly stoked to follow this every Monday. Fear of other’s opinion is a very real thing, but when we are called to follow God’s calling for our lives, the opinions shouldn’t matter. Can’t wait to see where this goes, and I have a feeling many people will be blessed by this project. I hope it lights a fire for Christians to step up and stand for our beliefs. God is real, and what is happening in the world is fulfilling the prophecies spoken so long ago.
