Pray for Vegas

Please join me in praying for Las Vegas, all who are physically wounded and all those who are emotionally wounded more than words will ever be able to describe.

___________________________

Lord, our hearts are broken for everything that is happening in our country and our world. Today our minds are in shock and our hearts are shattered for the evil that occurred in Las Vegas last night. There are just no words to express the heartache for the people and families impacted by this horrific tragedy.

Please heal those in the hospital and provide strength and wisdom to the medical staff in all the local hospitals especially when weariness begins to set in. Give unexplainable peace and comfort to those parents and families and friends who are grieving a loss that should never have happened.

Make Your Holy Presence known and deeply felt by those who feel abandoned and those who are beyond brokenhearted. Draw people to You who need a Savior now more than ever.

Use us all throughout this country as the hands and feet of Jesus in whatever ways you orchestrate in these coming weeks and months, regardless of where we live. Compel everyone’s hearts to pray for those who are hurting and to stay focused on what really matters.

Protect us from evil as a nation and as individuals. We know and believe You are still on the throne and that You are sovereign, but we ache over the evil in the world. The unfairness of tragedy and the people who are so lost and filled with evil that they can commit such heinous crimes is impossible for our human minds to process and understand.

Help us see You at work in this tragedy somehow. Bring our nation together and help us to be united and not divided, especially in the aftermath of this tragedy.

God please bless America. Amen.

Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Psalm 56:3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.

Amen from all of us “second guess girls”- song by Sara Groves

    “Second Guess Girl”

Is it time for a speech or for silence
Are you calling for peace or defiance
Is this darkening counsel or wisdom
Are we all perpetrators or victims?

Is this childlike simple rote history
    Is it complex deciphering mystery
Is this blessing or ill gotten wealth
Am I speaking for God or myself?

It’s a hard world for a second guess girl
    With one hand and another
I try to take it in but it leaves me spinning
Trying to love my sister and brother

Is this confidence born of a calling
Is this ego and pride before falling
Are we standing to fight for what’s right
Are we angry and hopelessly blind?

Are we companions of Job or prophets of God
Are we not of this world or just painfully odd
Is it time for free grace or tough love
Or a little of all the above?

It’s a hard world for a second guess girl
    On one hand and another
I try to take it in and it leaves me spinning
Trying to love my sister and brother

Sooner or later we’ll know more about it
Sooner or later we’ll understand why
    We’ll understand why

It’s a hard world for a second guess girl
    With one hand and another
I try to take it in but it leaves me spinning
Trying to love my sister and brother

Amen. Let us not grow numb to these events. My friend just lost her husband in the Barcelona attack and it hit me so hard knowing her, and brought back a personal loss of my own. However, as heinous as this shooting in Las Vegas is, I think my heart has had too much and at the same time I am getting used to these headlines. Maybe I am just weary, but I don’t want to grow numb and just accept these things as “the way it is”. I want to be shocked and outraged and pray fervently against it. Each incident represents lives hurting that need healing.

Tracie, I thank you so very much for letting God speak through you in this beautiful devotion and prayer! Tears filled my heart and eyes last night just thinking of those who died and those still struggling. There are so many going through grief. It is God Who is above all of this and wanting to help and heal our pained emotions. The “god of this world” wants defeat but the Creator wants to give us comfort and hope and salvation. Triumph is in Him. The prayer of faith you shared and Scriptures breaks a path through darkness into the light-The Light of The World is Jesus! John 8:12

Thank you so much for your encouragement Janie! It’s a comfort to share and know someone else feels or understands what I have shared. Pain still grips me but God can loosen that grip!

Amen, thank you for this needed heartfelt prayer.
I am so thankful as of yet that I am not personally connected, but spiritually we are all connected to those people. It’s so hard to comprehend the situation.
Jesus Bless everyone. I pray also for the family of that man, I am sure this is tragic for them to bear as well.
