Prayers for Your Children

hatsMany people responded to yesterdays’ post regarding my offer to pray for your graduating children, and rather than just saying I would do it, I wanted you to know I read each comment and am praying for them and all those whose names I don’t know, but God does.

Dear Jesus, this is a tough time for us moms. Moms who have spent 18 to 22 years raising their little ones into young adults and now face the challenge of letting them go off to college, embark on a new career, or even join the military.  Lord I pray that you soothe all of our hearts and help us let go of them, while entrusting them into your care. My mama’s heart tends to worry – that they’ll make bad choices, get hurt, get off course, or be unable to stand up for their faith with courage and integrity in a culture that glorifies sin, and not You.  I ask that you cover each and every graduating senior with special favor, protect them in the coming months as they set out into new territory, steer them away from temptation, and help them stay strong in what they know is right and wrong, despite what everyone else is doing.

Lord, I pray for Lela, Jessica, Matthews, Hunter, Alex, Luke, Caryn, Nicholas, Ben, Mark and his brother, Blake, KC, Rebeca, Alix, Givenchy, Gabrielle,  Fabienne,  Chelsea, Rhodes, Tania, Brooke and of course my sweet Kaitlyn. I lift all these precious graduating high school kids up to you and ask that you give them clarity about college majors or careers, help them make new friends easily and have the ability to choose friends that will help them grow in their faith, rather than bring them down with bad decisions and actions. I pray you convict their hearts if they do something wrong and that you convict our hearts with the intuition to know when our child needs us most. Please bless their college years and their futures and protect them from harm. And please fill all mother’s hearts with peace and comfort knowing that You will be with them, even when we cannot be. I ask for You to bless and protect my daughter Morgan who will be starting her Junior year in the fall, and for Michael who is still in college as well.

I also pray for those graduating from college, including Rachel, Bobby, and Kathy. Please open doors for them and all the other graduating college students of 2014  to find meaningful and wonderful careers that they can flourish in. Bless them with employment doing something they love and protect their hearts and decisions as they venture into adulthood. We pray for special doses of protections for those who are leaving for the military, and extra peace for those moms who are sending their sons or daughters off in uniform.  For those young adults who are struggling to find their way in life or are not making good decisions, I lift them up to You Jesus and ask that You prick their hearts with a passion to follow You and help them see how important their faith will be as they mature.

And Lord I pray for Janet, whose daughter Macie is with you during this graduating season. Will you shower her with a special blessing in the coming weeks, let her know You see her and love her? I ask for comfort and a peace that surpasses her own understanding,  as You are holding Macie in Your care until she meets her again in heaven.

Lastly, I lift up all those who are still in high school, including my sweet boy Michael. These can be four of the toughest years, and these kids need guidance, love, direction, good friends, academic ability, support from peers, involvement, and most of all, support and love from parents, even when they aren’t being lovable. Help us as moms stand strong in our own faith and raise them according to what we know is right from wrong, despite what other kids or other parents might think. Surround our teens with Godly friends, and instill discernment and wisdom in their minds.

All moms face different circumstances in different seasons of life and every child is different, but we know You love them Lord and Your desire is for them to grow up and glorify You with their life. Protect them, watch over them, let them know You are near, keep them safe, and bless us moms with the privilege of seeing them blossom into all they can be.

In Your most precious name, Amen.

Thank you, Tracie, for your prayer. My daughter Gretchen is heading off to college in August, my only child, my miracle child. It is so hard to let her be making her own decisions this last year. I’ve had to bite my tongue so many times! But she is making wise decisions, and I am glad that she is so bright and desires to take off on her own. As she receives cards from so many family friends, I realize that many of them have already faced this – and survived. And that my own parents let me go – and I turned out fine.

Thank you so much for your prayer – for me and for my daughter – and for so many other graduates. I’ll be praying for you, too.

I am not at that stage of life yet, but I do covet any prayers for my son Conor. He is entering kindergarten in the fall. He had preschool graduation early in May. His first day of school is Auguat 18. I feel pretty emotional about this, as well–he is my only child on earth (I have 2 babies in Heaven). I am thrilled that we are able to send him to Christian school, but it is still such a big milestone in life.

Thank you for the reminder that He is in cotrol and has plans for the lives of our kids!

    Blessings to you and yours!

My son just graduated from college and will begin his new job in another state far away from home. He is my only child and although I am proud of him and excited about his new job I am sad that he is moving so far away. (He is my only child) I know he will do well but I feel like I did when he graduated high school except this time it is very permanent. He will no longer call our house his “home”.

I really need this today. I’m new to Proverbs 31 and I’m really ecited to renew my faith. I worry all the time and I can’t stop. I memorized the verse this morning and have repeated several times today. Thank you so much!

I am so sorry that I missed out on this the first time. I am a mom who is graduating 2 children this year. My daughter, Meghan, graduated with a Bachelor/Science in Nursing from Roberts Wesleyan College and May and is currently seeking where God wants her to serve in this field. My son, Nathan, will graduate tomorrow evening (June6th) from high school and will report to Parris Island, SC for Marine Corp basic training in July. He will be serving in the Marine Reserves as he enters Houghton College Jan. 2015. This mom is praying a lot and trusting God, not only for the lives of her children and what lies ahead, but also for the “empty next” this leaves behind. My prayer is that my husband and I will grow closer to each other as we remember the days of struggle and joy in raising what I feel are the greatest treasures God has given us. We both feel as if we were blessed beyond what we deserve by being given the opportunity to raise 2 of God’s most precious creations. I, too, will pray for all of the graduates you mentioned, along with my continued prayers for me own. . . for direction, for grace, for peace and for patience as the future unfolds for them. Thank you so much for these words and your prayers as well.
