SLL Week 6 – Wonderful Wednesday

Today I just want to quickly review from Chapter 11, The Reset Button, because I bet every person reading this has wished for a reset button, or maybe a do-over button, at some point in their life. Since that’s not possible, instead of wasting our time wishing for what we can’t have, let’s focus on what we can have – God’s peace – and what we might need to do to seek it and attain it, each and every day. Below are the 6 tips and accompanying bible verses to tuck into your heart this week.

  1. Realign your life – Psalm 119:105, Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. (NLT)
  2. Recognize your need – Psalm 79:8b, ..may your mercy come quickly to meet us, for we are in desperate need. (NIV)
  3. Adjust your focus – Isaiah 40:28, Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. (NLT)
  4. Be filled with the Spirit – Galatians 5:16, So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. (NLT)
  5. Be faithful in your prayer life – Hebrews 4:16, Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (NIV)
  6. Believe God IS who He says – Matthew 16:13-16, Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (NLT)

And I’ll leave you with this thought from page 216: “What we view as God’s absence or lack of quickness to change our circumstances or fix our problems is really God waiting for the proper time to act on our behalf, while simultaneously waiting for us to acknowledge our need for rescue.”

I definitely agree that there are days that I would love for a reset button and there was a time where all I focused on was wishing that I could redo part of my past but, God worked in my heart through the last study of your book Your Life Still Counts and now I wouldn’t change anything from my past not even the bad stuff because God has used that to make me into who I am today. God has used the past to allow me to help others who now go through the same things I once did. On occasion though, I have days where I wish I could do a reset of the day, we all do. The 6 steps in Chapter 11 were so helpful to me, I need to put into practice ALL of them but the one that I really to put into action immediately is Be Filled With the Spirit. I have a tendency to forget sometimes that I am truly empowered by the Holy Spirit who LIVES inside of me and I need to trust in the Spirits guidance instead of doubting or trying to being self-sufficient in handling problems. Its time for me to REALLY rely completely on the Holy Spirit this week. Over the past 6 weeks I have learned more than I can even share, my book is highlighted and underlined on every page, this is a book that I plan to re-read several times because it has had that much affect on my life. The same with Your Life Still Counts! Tracie, Your writing truly touches me and God speak thru you in a mighty way! Being an Adrenaline Junkie by GO GO GO GO GO is something I have been able to see in my life and work at and just in 1 week I could feel a difference! Also, learning that stress is a Silent Killer was a big thing for me! I could go on and on and on, but the one thing I can say I learned the most is, that no matter what things we try to do to reduce stress the ONLY thing that will work is relying on Jesus Christ. He is the only one who can give us the true peace we desire!!!! I’m sad our 6 weeks is coming to an end! Will we be doing another study after this? When is your next book coming out Tracie? 🙂

Amen Natalie! Thank you for sharing your heart with us! I don’t have plans for another study just yet, but my next book will come out March 1 2017. Seems like a million years away, but it’ll be here before we know it. 🙂

Thanks for all the tips. I can apply each one to the needs in my life. The two that sort of ran a tie were #4. Be filled with the Spirit. That was always hard for me to understand because Baptist are filled with the Spirit the way some of the other denominations. I’ve asked God to fill me with His Spirit but He never has. My children went to a school that everyone was considered filled with the Spirit and had an outward speaking in tongues. #5 has really been laying heavy on my heart especially since the movie “War Room” has come out. I want to be faithful in my Prayer Life. I have to become obedient to God’s Word and learn to meditate So glad God’s not finished with me yet and has a forgiving heart.

Sharon, if you have asked Jesus into your heart, His spirit is living within you. Maybe it can’t be seen outwardly by virtue of speaking in tongues, but never doubt He is living within you if sincerely you invited Him in. Being filled with the Holy Spirit manifests in different ways, but most importantly, it changes us from the inside so that we can live for Him on the outside in the ways He equips us specifically and individually to do. 🙂

I love the reset button…truly puts into perspective how we can view each and every day. Letting our faith put God between us and our circumstances makes the stress seem so minute when we chose to let ‘God be God’ in our lives! Resetting is like rebooting our computers every day…a chance to start fresh with HIM every single day!
