Well, we are three weeks into the new year and maybe your resolutions are already slipping to the back burner. As we know all too well, even when we set resolutions with every intention of following through, sometimes life just gets in the way and motivation starts waning!
When that happens …. we start feeling discouraged and frustrated and thinking negative thoughts about ourselves. Then that discouragement turns into more negative thinking and we convince ourselves we can’t change, that our circumstances aren’t going to change, and that our life and nothing in our life will ever change. It’s a vicious cycle!
But no matter what prompts our negative thinking, one thing is for sure – a negative mind will never lead to positive change or a positive life. But someone who has trained their mind to think positive despite life’s setbacks, disappointments, frustrations and difficult circumstances, will live with joy, hope and optimism no matter what. And they are also more likely to keep pushing through with resolutions throughout the year.
I want to live like that. I bet you do too. So why not start out this year differently by retraining your brain? You may not have control over all your circumstances and setbacks, but you do have control over how you think about them.
