My Interview With Wendy

You and I have served in ministry together at Proverbs 31 for many years, and I’m so appreciative of your willingness to share your story with me. But what specifically made you want to contribute your story to Your Life Still Counts?

Wendy: I was excited to be included in a book that would encourage and equip women who feel helpless and hopeless because of something that has happened in their past. I love your message that when surrendered to God, our tragic past becomes a beautiful stepping stone to a powerful testimony.

Thank you friend. So how has God opened doors for you to do ministry or touch other’s hearts since you stepped out in obedience to share your story – not just in Your Life Still Counts, but in your own books and at speaking events?

Wendy: Twenty-nine years ago I spoke three words I thought I would never utter – “I was raped.” Raped by an armed, masked man hiding in my apartment just days after my college graduation. It left me devastated, locked in a prison of fear for over a decade. Once a victim defined by a wounded and scarred soul, I am now a product of God’s transforming grace, a testimony to the power of His Word. Over time, God gave me the courage to step out in faith and share this hard place in my life. And when I did, He used that courage and faith to birth a ministry that has changed my life forever. I left the practice of law to become a Bible teacher, speaker and now author. I LOVE this calling and want to spend the rest of my life pursuing it! And, I don’t miss the practice of law a bit!!

So many of us sometimes struggle to give up something we thought was our life plan, but then come to realize God’s plans are so much better! Has God blessed you in a special way for your obedience in choosing the journey of ministry?

Wendy: The blessing has been being part of what God is doing in your heart and ministry through your new book!! You are bringing so much hope and healing into the lives of women who feel so hopeless and worthless. Your courage to share such a private, hurting place has encouraged women to come out and share theirs and open their hearts to receive God’s healing through His Word and His Holy Spirit.

Thank you so much Wendy.  We both definitely share a passion to help other women find healing and purpose. Love how we are kindred spirits. 🙂  In light of your own passions, have you felt called to do anything new lately, such as a new project or ministry endeavor?

Wendy: I am in the process of completing a Bible study on 1 John, which I cannot wait to teach this spring!! And I have a new book coming out in 2016 entitled Unveiling God: Making Him Real in Your Every Day Life.  I am also very passionate about writing and teaching bible studies.

If you had to name one thing that you are most thankful to God for, what would it be?

Wendy: I am most thankful for my precious family, Monty, Lauren and Bo.

Family tops my list too, and you have such a beautiful family Wendy. Last question, what are you most excited about regarding how God has turned your past into your purpose?

Wendy: God took what man meant for evil and transformed it into a beautiful calling that has blessed me beyond measure!!

      I loved “Living So That”.
I believe that ” Hidden Joy on a Dark Corner” would be helpful for me. I’m going through a painful chapter on my life.

      • Wendy Blight on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 2:24 pm

Tracy, it means so much to know that “Living So That” spoke into your heart and life. And I’m sorry you are walking through a hard time in this season. I pray that you sense the Lord’s presence in very real ways as you seek answers and hope in Him.

        Blessings,

        Wendy

I think the book “Living So that” would be a great book for me. Often times I feel as if life is so crazy! It’s hard to make good choices that would glorify God and I so want to be so filled with Him that it’s automatically what he would want – not to be one of my own selfish desires…Hopeing to win the signed copy as I feel it could truly make a difference in my life!
Thanks and many blessings for what you and all of the lovely ladies at Proverbers 31 ministries does!

Penny, I so get what you mean. And knowing the truths in His Word…really knowing them…having them hidden in our hearts so that they become a part of us…allows us live that transformed life you are talking about. I want my first response to be “yes, Lord.” I want it to be obedience. Not “yes, but” or “wait, Lord” or “I’m sorry, Lord” after the fact.

      Blessings,

      Wendy

I think I would most benefit from “Hidden Joy in a Dark Corner” for two reasons one I already have the other book. Second sexual abuse has affected my family. All three of my sisters as well as my mom and my nieces have been sexually abused by different men in our lives. Even though nothing has ever happened to me I think I might have been more negatively affected than them. I completely do not trust men. I think this is why I have a hard time dating. I know they are still dealing with these things as well. I haven’t been changed by God but instead I am still being changed by him. I am a difficult project.

Hidden Joy in a Dark Corner: The Transforming Power of God’s Story would benefit me the most as I was molested as a child and experienced dysfunctional views of myself growing up. Withdrawal from living a full life because of the sins of another. I never became who I should be.

      Hi Debra,
Came here to enter a book contest and after reading your comment my heart just went out to you. I can relate to your comment and just wanted to tell you someone cares, and that the God who loves you will work even the crazy bad stuff in your past out for your good. Even when you can’t see it yet. And that no matter how true it feels, your identity isn’t in what has or hasn’t happened to you, but in who your heavenly Father says you are. Praying your mind will continue to be renewed with truth and love as you are washed with the word of God and sanctified by His Holy Spirit, and that God would just shine His truth on the enemy’s lies, to convict you of your Righteousness in Christ Jesus, and as a Beloved Daugher of the King. Peace & Blessings.

Would love to win a copy of “Living So That.” I did the online study a while back and loved it. Opened my eyes to a new way of looking at God’s Word. Regardless of any other study I do, I always mark the “so that” phrases and then go back and really study the scripture to see the reason and/or instruction the verse is revealing. Never thought to do that before Wendy’s book. If I win a copy, I am going to give it to my sister who just started attending church about 18 months ago. She is beginning to read the Bible, and I’d love to share Wendy’s “so that” way of looking at scripture. Thank you for the chance to win a copy!

I am excited to study God’s Word. “Hidden Joy” is a book I would love to read . The more I read and study, I am able to be a witness for The Lord.

I believe that “Living so That” would be a beautiful gift to give my a adopted grandmother. We could not be more different. We come from different places, times and we are years apart. But I recognized with the unworthiness she feels (been there before). My husband and I run a bible study in our home for our church and she comes. She knows Christ. She loves Christ.Yet she does not know him at all. She struggles most with daily living and how “living it out” is not “creating a life with God”. I would love for her to read how through to everyday decision making she can reach those she longs to help without first obtaining perfection. God has spoken to me lately to reach out to her through books and she is reading one now I gave to her. This one seems like it could bless her.
