Why I Do What I Do

In the year 2000, I was a wife, a career woman, and a mom of three kids under the age of six.

From the outside looking in, my life may have looked full and perfect. But from the inside looking out, my heart was broken and far from perfect. I thought I had all life had to offer, but oh how wrong I was.

During that year, I attended a women’s event at my church to enjoy some simple fellowship and food, and listen to a speaker from Proverbs 31.  I thought it would be an uneventful day, until she began to share her her testimony which I soon realized was all too similar to my own. Suddenly,  the day took on a whole new meaning.

As she spoke, I began to realize that although she had shame and regrets in her past just like me, she was no longer controlled by them or defined by them. She had been redeemed. She had been made whole.  She had been given a purpose. She had discovered that God loved her no matter what, and had found a relationship with Him that not only changed her heart, but her life.

As her words penetrated my heart, the thought entered my mind that just maybe, God still loved me too. Just maybe He could do for me what He had done for her. Just maybe I could be redeemed and given purpose.

As God spoke to my spirit through the vessel of this woman, I felt the chains of shame and regret which had had kept my heart in bondage for so long fall into a heap on the ground. I experienced redemption and freedom which I didn’t know existed, and I walked out of that event a changed woman.

In the years following that life changing night, I received the Proverbs 31 devotions every day, always wondering how God knew exactly what I needed to hear. My faith walk grew and my relationship with God grew tremendously.

Five years later, I knew God had placed a call on my life that I could no longer deny, and ever since He has had me on a most wonderful journey.  My faith is what He used to carry me through some extremely difficult times, and His love is what opened doors for me to begin working with Proverbs 31.

I now know without a shadow of a doubt that God can turn all ashes into beauty, if we open our hearts, believe in His promises, and allow Him to use our stories and experiences to help other women experience Him – just like the speaker who unknowingly ministered to me.

Knowing God has used the sharing of my own stories to impact the hearts of other women through speaking and writing, is why I do what I do.  And knowing that God used Proverbs 31 Ministries to change my life is why I do what I do with Proverbs, and why I have committed to supporting and working with this ministry for as long as God allows me to enjoy that most abundant blessing.

Proverbs 31 Ministries only exists through the donations of people, like me and maybe like you, who have been touched by the devotions, speakers, authors, bible studies and radio shows. We are in the middle of our annual campaign to prepare the ministry to continue ministering to women and changing hearts and lives all over the world.

If God is whispering to your heart today about the impact Proverbs 31 may have had on your life, or if you feel called to be a part of helping millions of women experience the love of Christ, will you consider partnering with us financially or giving a one time gift?

Every gift impacts a heart in one way or another. Every gift helps Proverbs 31 cross international, cultural and secular boundaries to make an impact for God’s kingdom. Every gift makes a difference, no matter how small or how significant.

We would love to have you join us in doing ministry and helping to grow the kingdom of God.  The video below shares more information about how your donation can help a women who is lost find the God who is looking for her, and how your gift will have eternal difference.

Tracie-God called me to make a monthly pledge to P31 this past year and althought we struggle financially I listened to that call-the amount is not much but I know in my heart that every bit helps. After I made that first payment we were blessed in ways that I know could only come from God. This is not why I made the pledge but an example of how we can never out give God and that God honors obedience. Right now I am feeling a call from God to double my monthly pledge for 2014–how do I do that? Call P31? My life has been changed immensely since I’ve begun following P31, reading the devotions, various P31 blogs and participating with P31 Online Bible Studies. God bless you this CHRISTmas season and always 🙂

Tracie–I just have to share this in hopes that someone who is feeling the nudge of the Holy Spirit to give to P31 but feel in their flesh that they just can’t afford it will step out in faith and do so. I had been feeling the need to double my monthly gift for a few weeks but your blog gave me the desire to publically commit to doing it. Yesterday, after I made this committment, we received a check for more then 11 times the amount I committed to increase my monthly giving. You just can’t make this stuff up–you can not out give God and He honors obedience. I would love to say I am this obedient all the time but sadly I am not but with the help and encouragement I get from P31 and my extended family of Online Bible Study sisters I am moving forward to being more obedient each day. God is #enough #feelingblessed #loveP31 !
