If our discussions never progressed past the first one fourth of this verse, we would still understand why life is wonderful.
“For God so loved the world..”
John 1:14 says “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us….” These two verses sum up the entire reason why life is wonderful, despite what life brings.
Love. The true meaning of Christmas is love, and it IS a wonderful life when we have His love in our hearts.
His love makes life wonderful in a lot of ways, but to name just a few:
– He loves us regardless of our sin, mistakes, and bad habits
– He loves us because of HIS character – not our conduct
– He loves us because of who He is, not who we are
– His love delivers us from sin, heals broken hearts, and eases disappointments
– His love gives us the blessing of living in faith
– His love gives us hope
John 3:16 says “so that whosoever believe in Him” … this portion of the verse gives us hope. Because of His love, we can believe in His power and soverignty, resulting in having hope in even the worst of times.
George Bailey had lost hope. In fact, after Mr. Potter told him he was worth more dead than alive, George began to wonder if maybe that was true. Just maybe, his life was not worth saving, or living.
The below movie clip gives us a glimpse of the moment when George began to buy into the lie that nothing about life was wonderful.
