A Focus Group Invitation

A Focus Group Invitation (For women who have experienced separation/abandonment/divorce)

Hi friend! It’s been a while since I’ve blogged so please forgive my absence.  To say these past few months have been stressful and chaotic would be quite the understatement. I’ve experienced the concerns of aging parents, death of my father, siblings in life threatening health circumstances, grown children moving across the country, more court appearances and legal battles, financial struggles, some heartbreaking family issues and more stress at work than I ever thought possible. I will gladly say goodbye to summer 2019 because it was certainly not one for the books.

But speaking of books ….. despite all the chaos, I’m working on a new project! This project is targeting the audience of women who have gone through the pain, suffering and challenges of separation and divorce. I would love to invite those who have walked that hard journey to pray about applying to be a part of my “Unbroken” Focus Group.

The responsibilities of focus group members will be:

  • Engage in a private Facebook group for conversation and heart sharing
  • Help identify the most common felt needs of women going through these situations and how to deal with them
  • Answer questions and polls in the Facebook group about what things, information and encouragement is most helpful during the difficult season of separation and divorce
  • Read newly written chapters as they come available and offer feedback by answering specific questions
  • Participate in occasional video calls for group discussion
  • Be a committed, active participant of the group if accepted as a member

What’s in it for you?

  • An opportunity to bond with other women who understand what you’re going through or have been through
  • A place to receive encouragement and hope in the healing process
  • An opportunity to share your story and advice to impact the lives of women who are walking the same shoes
  • A chance to help this book be the best it can be
  • A free digital copy of the book once it has surpassed the final editing stages

If this sounds like something you might be interested in, please complete the below form by November 11th, 2019. Space is limited as the focus group will be most successful as a smaller, more intimate group. Everything shared within the group will remain confidential.

This period of time during my martial separation has been difficult in many levels.. I am having trouble with redefining who I am as I journey now then this life of singleness. I know that God is walking alongside me and my children as we come to grips with what is happening in our lives.

Leona, Im so sorry for what you’re going through. You know I understand. God is with you for sure and I pray He makes His presence known and you see Him at work in countless ways.

I am so sorry, Leona, for the position you find yourself in. I know I certainly never expected to be going through the separation process either! I will keep you and your children in my prayers.

Tracie, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad and your other battles. Remember to pray for His armor each morning. Be protected as He fights for you!

Tracie, I would have loved to join you in this group however my former husband is blasting Facebook with his new life and girlfriend and my heart can’t take even being a part of Facebook. Social media is something I have had to get off of completely. We were married for 37 years and my daughters have had to endure seeing a father act out in ways no daughter should have to see or endure. I have done your bible study and it was such a blessing. This has been a battle for over two years and the first year I was in such deep grief I almost felt paralyzed. I read what you are going through and my heart broke for you yet I know our God has this, you are so loved. Cindi

So sorry Cindi for what you and your daughters are enduring. I personally chose to block people on Facebook whose photos I did not want to see, because sometimes it is too much for the heart. I understand your grief and feelings of being paralyzed, my prayers are going up for you.

I’m glad to see divorce is being talked about between Christian women. I have been divorced for almost 9 years and separated for a several months before that. During this time my children and I have attended three churches and not one every reached out to offer us or my children emotional support. I have realized that sadly no one really wants to include “us” or our children. That needs to change!
Because of societal stigma and lack of support from the church I have hidden myself away in my home; it’s just more than I can bear.

      Tina:
I’m so sorry for what ypu are having to deal with. Trust me, I know. I have been there. But may I say, please don’t give up. For your children’s sake. For your sake. There are many churches now offering ‘Divorce Care’ classes. Keep looking until you find one. I know what it’s like to have to attend a brand new church where you don’t know anyone. But there’s an old song that says ‘Leave all your cares at the altar’. That’s why we often go to church, to feel God’s presence and leave our cares at the altar. I will be praying for you.

Tracie – while it’s been 15 years since my husbands betrayal when my daughters were 7 and 9; the journey of raising two amazing girls has been filled with moments of fear, joy, desperation, celebration, self-doubt, anger, pride, forgiveness – all part of creating a more resilient me – a journey that never really ends – perhaps one we continually learn to navigate as we find our way through social and spiritual landscapes. I’d love to participate in any way I can add value. Prayers for you as you forge your path!

Somehow this email did not come through until now so I’m so disappointed I missed this. I would love to be a part of this focus group if it is still possible. I have gone through a very difficult divorce this year after an almost 20-year marriage. I would love to be able to connect with others who may have gone through something similar.

    Hello,
I’m not sure if it’s too late to participate in this focus group, but I’m well familiar with the subject of divorce, from a child’s perspective, as well as both sides of divorce as an adult, one wanted and one unwanted.
If my participation and perspective might be useful, I’d be happy to help.
    Thank you,
    Dyana Fischer

Hi. I’m not sure if it’s too late, but I would really enjoy being a part of this group. My husband left just under 3 years ago after being married for 20 years. We are separated and there is not a day I don’t cry. I continue to pray for him, our children and our marriage.

If it’s not too late I would love to join this group. I’m coming up on a year from divorce after 21 years and three kids.
