Today I’m guest posting over at my friend Courtney Joseph’s site called Women Living Well and sharing 10 tips for having a sweet and simple Christmas this year.
If you have never visited Women Living Well you definitely need to! She consistently posts wonderful articles about marriage, homemaking, parenting and lots of wonderful recipes. So you will be blessed by getting connected with her.
One of the tips I mentioned on the Women Living Well website today is: “Simmer a delicious, aromatic hot beverage on the stove, such as hot apple cider, Russian tea, or hot chocolate. Seasonal fragrances can be like a soothing balm for a stressed out soul.”
This tip is near and dear to my heart, because I can’t remember a Christmas past where I didn’t enjoy hot home made apple cider, or Russian Tea as my family has always called it. Nothing beats the smell of it stewing on the stove and the aroma could melt away any worry.
So I wanted to share my recipe with you today and hope you can make your own batch of Russian Tea this year to enjoy.
In a large pot, bring the below ingredients to a boil and steep at least 3 minutes:
8 cups of water
2 cinnamon sticks
1 tablespoon of whole cloves
5 small tea bags
In another large pot, combine the below ingredients and bring to a boil:
8 cups of water
1 small can of frozen lemonade
1 small can of frozen orange juice
1 small can of frozen apple juice
1 small can of frozen pineapple juice (optional)
1 3/4 cups of sugar
Pour the liquid from the first pot into the second through a strainer. Then serve hot and steamy!
