Don’t Give Up On That Prayer

Don’t Give Up On That Prayer & two book bundle giveaways!!!

Do you ever worry God is so tired of hearing your broken-record prayers that maybe He’s just not listening? Have you ever found yourself thinking, after months or even years of praying a certain prayer and it continues to go unanswered, that just possibly that prayer is too big for even God to answer?

Not true, my friend. Even though I admit I’ve felt that way too.

My devotion today over at Proverbs 31, When God Answers the Unanswerable Prayer, talks about this very thing. As a result of my separation and divorce several years ago, everything in my life was flipped upside down, not just my heart. Life as I knew it had ended, money was sparse while bills were not. I worried myself into a meltdown practically every day trying to figure how I could fix the problems I was facing.

And that was the problem – I could not fix them. I had no power to usher in miracles, which I needed so many of. But God did.  As I shared in the devotion, so many miracles, little bitty ones and even huge ones I could have never orchestrated on my own (in fact, no human on earth could have orchestrated them) began to happen. Somehow, by God’s grace and power alone, life and finances began to fall into place. In fact, I could write an entire book on how many times God provided for me and my children in tangible ways and how He answered prayers through miracles, but that might bore you! Because you surely have a set of your own miracles you’re praying for today. And that is your focus.

It’s sometimes hard to hear about God answering other people’s prayers in miraculous ways when we still have those unanswered prayers on our hearts; when we still are desperate for one of God’s miracles to take place in our own lives. So I want to remind you today what the Bible says …. God is a God of miracles who delights in answering the prayers of His people: “You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples” (Psalm 77:14). Our timetable is not God’s timetable – but He will meet our needs exactly when we need them met and answer our prayers in His perfect timing.

This Psalmist here compels us to not only remember God is a God of miracles but also let that truth crush our doubts of His miraculous abilities and faithfulness.

If you have an unanswered prayer weighing on your heart today, don’t grow weary of lifting it up to Him. Rest in knowing He is indeed listening, even when He seems silent. He has a plan, even though you may not. And it is good. Keep believing in that miracle and keep your eyes open to see Him at work.

Tracie, you are a inspiration to countless thousands. I share your devotions with my adults girls frequently . On Monday my husband and I were in a traffic stand still for over two hours following a diesel spill on the Red River Bridge entering Texas. We enlisted the prayers of our children and the road block a mile ahead opened up in two minutes.

So on target for me today. I’ve gone through the many pains of separation and divorce. Finances are a constant concern, yet I know God is my provider.

My husband and I was in a wreck on Jan. 22, 2020. I have 5 cracked ribs and my husband has 3 cracked vertebraes and a torn shoulder along with dementia that got worse after the wreck. We had to decided if having surgery would help him but after talking to the doctor he told us he would be in so much pain and there would be a slight chance that he could walk again. His T4 is pressing on his vertebraes. They would have to operate on his spinal cord and his back. Again he would be in so much pain and a slight chance of walking again. Then with the dementia he would be going through so much. He’s now living in a nursing home and I started my new life alone last week. He was a great husband and father and I miss him so much. I pray for a miracle that God would restore him to his former self. I would appreciate your prayers so much.

Thank you for sharing your story ❣️ I’m currently going through a divorce and although my circumstances are somewhat different I certainly can relate. I’m praying that GOD will continue HIS works in me. Strengthen, open the eyes and ears of my husband. Even tho we’re separated I still want GOD’S best for him, we all should live and walk in the best of GOD.

Just beginning the divorce process after 26 years of marriage. Not my choice or what I ever thought would happen. Between praying and crying I am so broken and yet thankful my children are young adults and I don’t have to go through custody issues. Thank you for your words and for accepting me into the Facebook group.

  10. Amanda on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 5:05 pm

I’ve been divorced for 3 years and trying to navigate through my new life and raising my four amazing kids through teen and preteen years. God has been wonderful and my faith has strengthened but it is still oh so hard sometimes.

  11. Lisa on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 6:36 pm

Sadly, I go In spurts with prayer because I get so discouraged and lose hope that I even deserve God’s blessings when I pray. I keep finding myself in this place of discouragement.

My prayer request is for God to bless me with a loving partner again one day and that I’ll be strong enough to know what He wants for me and accept it no matter how much my own desires say otherwise. Maybe He sees the pure love in my heart and will see my wishes as good despite the negative surroundings that are tied to it. Will God bless me with something my heart desires if it means experiencing some pain in order to have it? I’m afraid he won’t.

  12. Deborah on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 8:14 pm

Thank you for sharing. Today I am going to ask for prayers for myself which I rarely do. I had 2 biopsies done and praying for good news.

  13. Yolanda on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 9:33 pm

Hi Tracie. Your devotion today in Proverbs 31 ministries spoke so deep in my heart today. My husband and I are separated. and I know God has never left me and will never leave me. Please pray for clarity and God’s will. I am in the midst of so many emotions. I know that now is not the time to make a decision about the future of our marriage. I am finding joy despite the pain, fighting the fight. And there are days I just want to lay down with my electric blanket and hug my dog and watch Law and Order.

Thank you for having the courage to share your story. That is what the Lord calls us to do. Our pain can bring hope to another and God never wastes your pain. In pain there is purpose!

    Many prayers to you!

For anyone new to Tracie, she is an inspiration and has been integral to my personal journey through divorce. My prayer request is for a “new love” I have met. I am struggling with opening my heart fully to him. He is so kind and gentle with me. Pray I hear God speak to me regarding love again.

I would love to have the unsinkable faith book. I still have hope for my marriage but sometimes I am not so sure because there is not much change and progress.

  21. debbie on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 9:17 am

I love your devotionals on Proverbs 31. I didn’t realize you had a facebook page also (joined today!). I’d love to read your books. I’m going through a hard season. Accident that resulted in 3 surgeries in the last year, an unplanned hysterectomy over the holidays and I lost my job 5 weeks ago. I know there is a plan, and as you said, my timeline might not be God’s. It’s still hard. Today’s message you wrote gave me some encouragement today. Thank you.

  22. jenny on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 9:32 am

This post hit home today. Going through a season of change in life. My husband recently went through some severe depression and anxiety issues. In the process he lost his job. I have always been capable of supporting myself and can continue to do so at this time but feel frustrated to be constantly put in this position with no one to depend on. In reading your post it helped me see I am not alone and that God is always with me and I can depend on him.

  23. Chellee Niermeyer on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 9:36 am

Thank you for the encouragement to keep praying! I do get discouraged! I know god hears my prayers but I just get tired of praying for something that never changes! My marriage ending after 21 years of what I thought would be forever was hard enough but now I’m going through custody battles and immoral things my ex does that are affecting my kids especially my 12 year old son. I want God to protect my sons heart and mind and I know he will but it is my ultimate prayer for my ex to find his way back to a right relationship with God. I am also needing financial provisions met but like you said, I see God working and providing everyday miraculously! I’ll praise Him always in the storm! Thank you Jesus for being always present and working even when I can’t see it! Thank you Tracie!

  24. Lisa on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 9:54 am

I am just down right now. My father passed away in December and I am in a job I just cannot get excited about anymore. I know God has a plan for my life, I just wish I could feel happy again.

    Hi Tracie-
Your posts are always such an encouragement to me as one busy mom to another.
Prayers appreciated for my husband & health issues that he is battling. As well as for my daughter who is 15 & in 9th grade that is giving us some attitude issues- that we need wisdom in dealing with.
Any advice on 15 year old girls??

  27. Christie on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 10:39 am

Thank you for sharing your testimony and being an encouragement. I too have experienced a similar situation and am so thankful for the way that God has provided for me and and my children and blessed us during a very difficult time.

  28. Sonnetta Jones on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 10:40 am

Thank you for your openness. I have learned throughout my 20+ years of walking with Jesus that God answers all prayers and that sometimes it is a yes, no or not now. I am learning to enjoy this moment in my life. Yes, there are times when the desire for certain things are very strong but I am trusting that at the right time God will say to those things as long as there are not outside of his will.

  29. Robin Puchala on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 12:09 pm

I love that you point us to God & His resources & abilities! My prayer request is that God would make a way for me to succeed…as an author & Life Coach. I need Breakthrough!❤️

Prayers requested for two of my adult children. One seems to be choosing to remain unmarried (but often wavers in this choice), and the other is struggling to find a companion (to become a spouse).

I think that reading your books would be very helpful. I am going through a divorce after almost 17 years. My husband got addicted to pain pills and had an affair. I am just trying to put my life back together.

  35. Jenny on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 6:12 am

I’m in a new season of life, going through a divorce, after 20 years of marriage. Always worked part time to help support our three children but soon to be wearing all the hats “alone”. Thank you for sharing your story, Tracie, and for your words of hope, love and wisdom. A time of anger, betrayal, confusion, fear and sadness are in my midst…but I am hopeful to one day erasing those feelings from my current tag line. Thanks again and I look forward to reading your books.

  36. Elizabeth on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 6:41 am

As a single momma of a young daughter, it can sometimes be a challenge trying to fill both roles (of mother and father). Please pray that God gives me the tools to raise a happy, healthy, loving girl.

  37. Carolyn Sharpe on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 8:25 am

It’s hard at times to remember, there’s other people out there that really know how I feel as we wait n wait n wait for answers to prayers or get that strong release from the past we so desperately need. To finally wake up one morning feeling like “Oh thank You Father I’m still breathing. I can live n enjoy life again.” I so enjoy reading your shared moments with you. May God continue to bless you as you open yourself up to help heal us.

You are such an inspiration to me! I went through a divorce in 2018 and it’s still tough … I am a single mom to a wonderful son but I struggle financially. Still I know that God is good and it will all work for His Glory!

  39. Amy Turner on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 4:43 am

My prayer request is that God will bless my family with unity and a fresh start. My mother and father have a very weak relationship filled with hatred and grudges as their daughter this has been really hard to see and deal with as often I am involved in arguments or I have to care for my mother when she Has been upset by my father. I also pray that God will clear my thoughts from negative to positive to help me in my every day walk with God, I have recently got a new job as a children’s worker at my church and I really want to do it well, honouring God with everything I have but I realise that I need to sort through those negative thoughts. I recently finished your four day Reading plan on the Bible app and I really loved it it truly blessed me. I feel like this book would really aid me in my path to positivity, I also know a few other women that would truly benefit from this book. Thank you for sharing your testimony and wisdom!
